I cook for the whole family also. Two boys that are 7 and 8. They eat what I cook them and it's making them healthier

Bring them into your life - you don't have to go hardcore diet and have no spice or gross shit , your not doing a bodybuilding comp , and if you do deside to do one then good for you and it will be that much easier for everyone to adjust to.

It's about healthy choices and having more shakes then food is not a healthy choice. Keep it simple. Figure out what you need ( I gave you a good idea ) and eat it. Keep your family in the loop and be healthy together.

It's not that they don't eat what I give them..

It's more that I can't figure out how much of what I'm getting when it's all mixed up..

Am I getting 3/4 of chicken breast? How much tomato sauce..

Way easier when you can just stick it in a blender for 1..

We all eat healthy..

Whole wheat pasta, lots of chicken and ground beef..

It's just how much protein, how much carbs..

Gotta break it down and keep track..

So separate it before you cook. You can weigh your your own if you want.

There are way around it , bottom line is you have to be willing to do it . If not then go ahead and drink the shakes , but don't expect to lose the belly

Well, any kind of sauce or mixture (chunky chicken cacciatore, for example) , and I'm screwed.. LOL

What's so unhealthy about the shakes?

The relatively high GI of the blueberries, bananas, fructose, etc?

It's not difficult to eat/cook healthy. Quit being lazy. A variety of whole foods contain many, many more nutrients than shakes. Get off your crutches and just do it.

Time for some more reading, Doug!

Fructose is relatively low GI btw. And with all the other stuff in your shakes the GI of a couple berries doesn't really mean much. You have to look at the entire meal, not pieces of it individually. The GL of the fruit is not going to be indicated by the GI.

How many blueberries do you think you need to eat in order to get 25 to 50 grams of carbs?

And what's in this shit ? Lots of hidden calories ? You must be willing to make changes if you want changes to happen

When it comes to shakes , they go through you too fast ! Your body needs time to digest and release slowly ( depending on the time of day ) This will help you burn calories .

And what's in this shit ?
Chicken breasts, onion, oregano, tomato sauce, olive oil, green peppers, whole wheat pasta, mozzarella..

I'll see if I can find the recipe..

The pasta and the mozzarella would be the biggest offenders, here..

No heavy carbs before bed, you mean?

What's your favorites?

I heard peanut butter and apples were a good snack, but before bed?

What do you guys think of waxy maize after a work out?

What about protein powder?

What DO you guys eat after a workout?

So besides them going right through you, they're ok?

Blueberries were good anti-oxidants, I heard..

I don't think I'll bother with chocolate/peanut butter or banana pb shakes anymore, though..

Quit asking questions and start reading. Read the thread on PWO nutrition for starters. It answers several of the questions you just asked.

Do what you want. Banana's are good for you , Natural Peanut Butter is good for you and sometimes it's nice to have this as a snack. Just don't make 85% of your meals Shakes.

I know you want to have everything answered directly to YOU , but man you have to read some stuff on this board other than what you post. It will make things easier for you.
