What were their reasonings behind telling you not to use powders, only real foods?

One reason was because if we were to get a taste of the protein powders, we would have been more incline to cheat. (and trust me, they would have tasted very good at that point). Also there is about 150mg of sodium per scoop. That's not much, I know, but we never argued with them. There word was golden to us at that time.
Why pay them if your not going to listen to them ?
Mainly because they didn't agree with it ,(cutting only). They wanted us on such a strick diet.
