Cool Which Protein Shakes work in a Cutting Diet?

Hey Guys as some of you know, one of my goals is to cut. Im 6'1 220lbs and im getting back into training. Im not sure what kind of protein powder I should use that would help boost my metabalism and loose the excess fat. I thought of using muscle milk because others ive tried are so disgusting!! Do you guys suggest any good proteins that are not so damn disgusting but gets the job done at the same time? I dont know if muscle milk is good for cutting. Thanks Guys,

Cortez

What kind of diet are you on? Low Carb? If so, i dont recomend muscle milk due to the high carbs and sugars compared to regular protein. Also, it isnt the best for right after a workout when your body wants protein. Its a combo mix of cassein, egg, and whey. The casein and egg protein are slower digesting, which is not what you want right after a workout. The same maker of muscle milk, Cytosport, makes many versions of protein. I have their Complete Whey right now. Its no muscle milk, but its pretty tasty. I was going to get ON 100% Whey as i regard that as one of the best; quality, taste, and price wise. But i was looking around and this was the same price so i decided to give it a shot. Definately going back to ON next time, or whatever i can score for free ;-)

Oh and lastly, whey doesnt really contribute to weight loss (Although i read an article in a mag saying it helps when taken pre-cardio). Yes, it does boost metabolism, but so does any other food intake.

When I was cutting, my trainers said not to use any protein powders. All real food. (For protein) chicken, tuna(any white fish),and egg whites

One reason was because if we were to get a taste of the protein powders, we would have been more incline to cheat. (and trust me, they would have tasted very good at that point). Also there is about 150mg of sodium per scoop. That's not much, I know, but we never argued with them. There word was golden to us at that time.
Why pay them if your not going to listen to them ?
Mainly because they didn't agree with it ,(cutting only). They wanted us on such a strick diet.

Another reason is that WHOLE food is much more thermogenic as compared to a protein shake. Your body must expend more energy to break down the whole foods as compared to a shake. Also when cutting you are usually limiting your food intake in some fashion (calories in vs out) and whole food is much more filling and tends to leave you less hungry.

Shakes have their place when cutting, just don't rely on them for every meal.
