Default New to the community, but not to the sport

Hey everybody,

First thing, I'm glad to be here. It was high time I started conversing with other people about similar interests, and I'm happy to see this site is a no-frills kind of place. As for me, I'm a philosophy and English professor from NEPA who, by serendipity, started powerlifting (and working toward bodybuilding) a couple of years ago after an injury prevented my from going farther as a runner.

Anyway, I'm here for a variety of very specific reasons, notably: [1] I'm curious about judging in bodybuilding, as I have a series of scars (for instance, at the top of my teardrop in my left quad) that I acquired while in the Army, and [2] how to progress farther in powerlifting exercises like the squat and deadlift despite the fact that I have relatively noticeable tendonosis in my knees.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to talking with you all.

-R
