Default Dietary Revelation - Wild Plants

I recently discovered a way to bring my food budget down to practically nothing. I just go to the wild areas around town, and gather up wild plants. Some of them like nettles, are good to eat whole. They're rich in calcium, iron, vitamins C, B1, B2, and many others. They have the highest protein value of almost any plant food - 40% protein by weight when dried.

Others have lots of other vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and such, but are not quite as edible because of bitterness, texture, etc. These can be easily made into an herbal tea, which extracts the vitamins and minerals and puts them into a form that can be easily digested and used by your body.

Today I ate a plate of nettles, and drank a pot of tea brewed with broom flowers, morning glory flowers, red and white clover, alfalfa, plantain, a whole rose flower, and blackberry shoots. I use a coffee maker, and just load up the filter with all of my chosen wild plants, along with some yerba mate for flavour and additional health benefits.

Along with salmon, milk, eggs, and other meats and dairy, occasional storebought fruits and veggies, and carbs when needed, you will look and feel great on this diet.

There are hundreds of plants that can be eaten in nearly every part of the world, and each has unique medicinal and nutritional value. Try it out!

lol, I'm careful about what plants I'm using, making sure they're all edible and nutritionally valuable (most 'weeds' are). . . woke up today feeling totally solid, lots of vivid dreams all night, my whole body is feeling cut, only needed about 8 hours sleep

very positive effects, 'strongly' noticeable thus far

I'm gonna keep trying this!

My only waring would be is that you may want to look for plants farther out in the country, if possible, rather than close by the town. The soils in and around city's can be incredibly contaminated and plants are storehouses of all that stuff. A plant that is safe to eat out in the country could have heavy metal pollutants and who know's what in the city.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

that's a good point, I live right near the mountains here so I could get out there with too much trouble to do a lot of my foraging, I think I would like to start planting useful species right in my own garden

the great thing about weeds is that they grow like. . . weeds

I find it pretty amazing how commonly overlooked edible wild plants are
they grow everywhere, and have a higher content of vitamins and minerals than virtually any store bought fruits and veggies

I was struggling with my pushup routine the past week or so because I haven't been able to afford fruits and veggies, it's amazing what kind of a difference they make in being able to do my workouts and just my energy level in general

I easily did a set of 50 this morning though, it's obvious that I'm getting great benefits from just one day of all these extra nutrients

the energy feels totally natural, my body is literally vibrating with the extra energy, and my mind feels sharp
there's no way that this is just placebo. . . I'm gonna keep doing this and see how consistant the energy delivery is

I'll keep people updated as I get more experience with them, and try to keep track of the different uses for various common plants

there are also tons of recipes online that I would like to try out

I'm finding that dried nettles taste great in milk with a little bit of cereal. they're very high in serotonin which probably explains the dramatic lift in mood and my needing less sleep and more vivid dreams
