Default different proteins

Aaaaaalright...now everyone, I prefer my 100% body fortress whey protein, but I also have got this muscle milk stuff that has a mixture of casein and whey and I actually don't know I don't feel like pulling it out and typing all the shit down that is in the stuff, but I know the whey will hit my system fast and casein is a lot slower to digest, but what, in your opinions, is better for keeping my body from going catabolic?

I figured taking the 100% whey before and after workouts, then taking the muscle milk stuff before bed or whenever I need a quick meal if I am in a hurry or something is best.

P.S. For the time being I am trying to put on about 10 lbs of muscle then go all strength from there, and also I am not saying I drink 3 or 4 protein shakes a day, just whey on workout days and the muscle milk if I happen to miss a meal or I am hungry late at night.

whey is excellent after workouts, but don´t underrate the musclemilk, it floods your system much longer, by providing aminos troughout a longer period of time, whereas whey is metabolised after some 2 hours.
so if you replace a meal always stuck to the musclemilk or mix your whey-shake with milk, cottage cheese, or yoghurt...

by the way....do you guys have curd/curd cheese in the U.S.
here in germany we have it and i eat a lot of it, it contains 12g of protein, 4g of carbs, 0 fat per 100g(if you choose the lean one) and it´s extreamly cheap, only 45 euro-cents (~38-40us-cents) per pound.......well sorry it´s offtopic, i´m just curious, ´cuz in italy they don´t got it...
so if you´ve got acces to it, mix your whey with it, if you want to replace a meal or need a good snack

Yeah usually the whey is right after workouts with just water then about 45 minutes later I eat a pretty decent meal, usually a big hunk of chicken and some sort of whole grain pasta, and I have no idea what curd cheese is...maybe we have it and I just never see it or maybe we call it something different...whats it look like?

eveen after workouts, it´s not that baad, if you consume a little bit of casein with your whey(30g whey, 10g casein), but whey alone is fine, too. i would wait a bit longer for the next meal, maybe 1-2h to ensure that the PWN(post-workout-nutrition) is metabolized.
well curd(the translation is from the dicctionary, maybe this term is not in use, don´t know...)it looks like sour cream and tastes similiar, but it is thicker, in german it is called "quark" or "topfen"( topfen is bavarian).doesn´t matter i was just curious....

could you possibly be talking about cream cheese? That looks like sour cream...doesn't taste like it though...I eat that stuff on bagels, god damn it is delicious.

Whey is used up by the body very fast, within an hour or so. Casein digests very slowly and can feed your muscles for up to 6-8 hours depending on the quality. So whey is great when you wake up, and pre/post workout. Casein is great for bedtime. Products like Ultra Peptide are a blend of casein and whey, but mostly casein. Cheaper blends would usually have less casein, more whey.
