Default Egg Noodles

So, my wife wants to make Tuna Casserole, and use standard egg noodles. I asked if they were "whole wheat noodles", she said no, and now is mad that I won't eat her casserole. (Hey, i'm trying to decrease my Bodyfat from 25% to under 10%)

Does anyone have suggestions as to alternatives to Egg Noodles? She agreed she would use it instead of the standard noodles, but I MUST supply it. whew!!

Shirataki noodles are extremely low calorie. So that's one option. Typically you have to go to an asian market for those. They're similar in texture to lo mein noodles.

If you're wanting something with a little more than just carbs to it, check out the pasta aisle at your grocery store. I'm sure there'll be a few different brands of 'protein' pastas. I've had a few different kinds of those, and IMO, as long as you've got something else to help flavor them, they taste pretty good. So they should work well in a casserole.

And there's always the 'No Yolks' egg noodles. Low fat, but it's still the same carb count as a regular pasta/egg noodle.

That's actually what we have, 'No Yolk', I thought Semonila was a "simple carb" and I"m trying to avoid having those, especially in a full meal.

From what I've read, I should stick to complex carbs. I'm at 25.9% bodyfat and trying to cut down.

BTW, I found Whole Wheat egg noodles, right across the aisle from the regular "No Yolk" noodles! haha

You should do what you think is right , but don't be totally scared of the simple carb. I know they break down fast and cause the insuline to raise faster , but it also depends on what you eat with the carb ie: fat and protein. These will cause the digestion to be slower ( not like the complex , but still ) Also if you are working out you will want a simple carb (alone with protein)before and after your workouts to help with recover ( post ) and there have been a few studies ( just taking this from a recent book I've read ) that with the proper pre workout drink you will burn more calories than without.

Thank you for your input.

I actually use gatorade powder + whey for my PWO.

Other than that though, it's all complex carbs ie- oats, brown rice, whole wheat bread etc...

Right on.

You might be able to save some money ( if you care ) by picking up some WMS or Maltodextrin.
