You should do what you think is right , but don't be totally scared of the simple carb. I know they break down fast and cause the insuline to raise faster , but it also depends on what you eat with the carb ie: fat and protein. These will cause the digestion to be slower ( not like the complex , but still ) Also if you are working out you will want a simple carb (alone with protein)before and after your workouts to help with recover ( post ) and there have been a few studies ( just taking this from a recent book I've read ) that with the proper pre workout drink you will burn more calories than without.

Thank you for your input.

I actually use gatorade powder + whey for my PWO.

Other than that though, it's all complex carbs ie- oats, brown rice, whole wheat bread etc...
