Eggs
i love eggs. i can eat them all day and everyday. i kwno the cholesteral thing is a little blown out of proportion but i do have one question
there is no way im am just eating yokes when i eat an egg. so just about every morning it can range from eating 2 to 4 eggs. i buy the eggslands best because the cholesteral is lower than the regualr eggs. its 170 something to 215 per egg. the thing is when i go to BJs i can get like 5 dozen eggs or more for like 4 to 5 something dollars. oppsed to me getting 2 dozen of the egglands best for like 4 something.
i can get way more of the regualr eggs for the same price. so im just wondering would that difference in cholesteral really matter?

My best understanding is that most of the cholesterol in your body is cholesterol that your body makes. Diet is a relatively small factor (though it can still be used to mitigate high cholesterol to some degree). This is why medication is more effective for lowering cholesterol as well, because it impacts upon the larger source of cholesterol in your body, not just what you ingest.

I buy cheap eggs and take a fiber supplement.
Soluble fiber will bind to a type of bile produced by your body. This bile is a necessary part of cholesterol production. So if you increase your intake of fiber, soluble fiber will attach to the bile & it will be excreted before it can be made into cholesterol. That will lower your cholesterol levels. Fiber will also help with digestion. It lowers your risk of colon cancer, etc. That's why Cheerios lowers cholesterol BTW. I'm a fan of it...the stuff is cheap & it works. That's my advice. I believe Andrew is on point.

The cholesterol scare with eggs went out in the mid-90's if I remember correctly.
Sure, eggs contain LDL cholesterol (the 'bad' cholesterol). But in the grand scheme of things, the amount they have isn't anything detrimental to overall health, especially when it comes to cholesterol ratings and heart health.
All of the LDL cholesterol, which stems mainly from saturated fats (when it comes to diet), comes from the yolk. And basically, if you're eating less than 5 dozen egg yolks a day, you're fine.

Man, if eggs treat your digestive tract like they treat mine, I wouldn't want to be within three city blocks of you after 5 dozen eggs!
Oh, and about the egg scare being over, no old wives tale ever dies. I had a neighbor that believed that eating fish and milk together was poisonous... yeah...

I agree with you on that brother, my girl almost makes me sleep in another room after a mass egg consumption. I love deviled eggs the most.
