Are protein shakes and such really necessary for a diet to work? i mean i could see post workout just because your depleted and such, but like i never drink them otherwise..i stick to more whole foods and such, but it seems like everyone is taking supplements/shakes and what not to succeed in this bodybuilding life. I have drive to succeed and get better at what i do but i think i can manage without wasting money on other junk. I need some good breakfast ideas also...i swear my parents just buy cereal and i suck @ making eggs..haha ill learn though i guess..but as far as bread and stuff goes, how should that work? do i eat bread? can i? haha i know there carbs or w/e but i dunno, my workouts are more intense then most, and i know of it because i can feel the results and how much i sweat. So i think i need all the food i can get, just whole grain foods and what not..the healthy stuff and water!! so lend me some ideas on some nutrition, im constantly looking but some experience from you guys would be nice..what makes you feel slim and slender too - food wise, thanks , - TUNAMAN!!

You do not need to take a protein shake if you are getting enough via food. Simply do the math.

I think a protein shake is great for pre/post workout. But NO of course you don't need them if as Brad said you're getting enough from food. They are SUPPLEMENTS meaning IN ADDITION TO or TO AUGMENT the diet. Everything you need is in the nutrition stickies and the nutrition articles sections.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.
