If your going to bulk "dirty" than yes you will gain weight fast. You will be eating everything and anything you can. If your eating over 5000 cals a day with high fat, protein and carbs then it wont take long. If you have a very good training program than, yes you will put on muscle. The hard part will be when you want to loose the fat and keep the muscle. Most likely you will loose muscle while dieting down.
And IMO it's harder on the body (big weight swings are never good). But then again, you can always diet down very slow to maintain as much as possible.
On the othe hand, if your going to do a "clean" bulk it will take longer to put on muscle mass because your not eating as many calories. Basically, IMO, if you can put on 10 - 15lbs of lean muscle mass in one year than you have done a very good job. That isin't even 2lbs a month. With the clean bulk you need patience and if you can see the big picture it is a healthier way to go. And when you decide to shed some fat it won't be as hard, just a few adjustments.

Like Talo said, "dirty" bulking is faster....at gaining weight. Along with the muscle you are also putting on a lot of bodyfat which will make the cutting process longer and harder. A clean bulk may be harder initially but worth it in the long term.
