Default How is my diet?

I have done some reading from here and other forums. I know my diet is not the greatest in the world, and doesnt really even follow what I should be doing. Im single, almost 20, paying rent and bills myself so I am not making much money for groceries. I work 10 hour shifts so I my workout tends to be in the late evening. im 142 pounds, hard gainer and i need some serious attention to my diet. My diet goes as this:

Meal 1: 8:00 am
Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwhich on 7 grain wheat bread
1 Flax Seed Oil Capsul, 1 One-a-day Vitamin, and 1 Fish Oil Capsuls

Meal 2: 11:15 a.m.

Bonless Skinless Chicken Breast.

Meal 3: 3:15 p.m.

Jumbo baked patato w/ butter, steak chilli, and cheese.

Meal 4: 6:00

Chicken Breast

Meal 5: 7:45 (home from work) Pre workout

MuscleMilk Shake 638cal/12gcarbs/32g protien.
I usualy eat something with this rather it be speggetti or something around the house.

Meal 6: 9:00 Post workout

Muscle Milk shake

I tend to find something around the house to eat again.

Now I know I am suppose to read and I have. I just dont know what to supplement in for oatmeal. I dont like to eat oatmeal. Egg whites are too expensive, I live in a rather expensive area so rent is expensive. No roomate either. I believe I am getting enough protien throughout the day and enough calories, I just dont believe I am getting enough carbs and I am evenly distributing it throughout the day. Im serious about gaining weight, but not too serious to the fact that I am mixing all types of crazy different foods together. Simpler the better.

1. Is there any way you can fit another meal between meals 2-3. Four hours is a very long time. Anything will do. Even if work gets in the way, make 4 or 5 hard boiled eggs (eggs are very inexpensive) and eat them on your way to the bathroom or something.

2. Meals 2 and 4 need some carbs as well.

3. Meal 3 needs some protein. How's about eating your chicken breast with your baked potato for meal 3. For meal two have a large tuna sandwich, which is also very inexpensive. I get cans of tuna for $0.99 per can. So that's 32 grams of protein for a dollar.

Cheap carb sources are:

1. Begals (55 grams of carbs)
2. Oatmeal (50 grams)
3. Cereal
4. Sweet Potatoes in a can

Cheap protein sources are:

1. Tuna
2. Cottage Cheese
3. Eggs
4. Ground Turkey (instead of beef)

Also remember to check the grocery store ads because usually there's a sale on certain cuts of meat. I also usually go to a store like Costco and buy my meats, milk, and eggs in bulk. For example, they sell boxed sets of 2 gallon milk jugs for $3.99.

Thanks alot for all of that info... So for my meal 2 and 4, I could eat a chicken breast on a begal?

For my Meal 3 I would throw in an additional chicken breast.

Other option:

Meal 2 and 4, tuna sandwhich

and Meal 3 one chicken breast and my bake patato.

I like my option one because I dont like tuna sandwhiches, but I do like tuna mixed in with alfredo ect....

Any other adjustments?
Thanks for the help btw!

Costco or Sam's Club is a very good idea. If you could possibly get a membership to one of those place you could stock up on a lot of those things and save a ton.

For instance, I get a huge bag of frozen chicken breast at Sam's Club for next to nothing. Like 0311 said you can get your milk. Eggs are cheap. Cans of tuna or salmon. Big bags of bagels, oatmeal, cereal, etc.

Not to mention all your other household supplies. If it's your budget holding you back, then that is definitely something to look into.

Yeah thats a good idea, I have a family member's membership at Sam's that I can use... I always get a bag of chicken from walmart for $7.. is it really that much cheaper at sams?

Anything I need to get to spread on the begals?

What would be the best time to eat the eggs? I eat them sometimes, I get the Omegga 3 eggs to btw

I don't know about the chicken. I looked though some old receipts and couldn't find a price. I am pretty sure it is around $7 at my Sam's Club (prices aren't always exactly the same at different locations). My bag is 6.5 lbs.

There's also giant bags of ground turkey burgers, chicken burgers (and frozen beef burgers). Even if the chicken breasts are the same, overall your gonna save a lot of money on other stuff you need anyway, so that should help.

You need some more protein in the morning. That would be a good time to eat eggs. Other than that do what 0311 suggested to get something between meals 2 and 4.

If you buy Omega 3 eggs that explains why you think eggs are too expensive. If your serious about gaining weight then get the cheapest eggs you can buy (factory eggs). You're already taking flax and fish oil caps anyway. If you want to splurge then get regular Organic eggs. I guarantee they taste better than the Omega 3 ones.

Ok good deal. I will visit Sam's and get a bag of begals, eggs, turkey burgers, and a bag of chicken breast. I already have tuna and not a big fan of oatmeal and cottage cheese.

One reason why I quit eating eggs is much, is because I thought I had developed a bad taste for eggs, but from what you had said is that Omegga eggs dont taste as good. I agree.

So can you all modify my diet plan? I have a rough idea of what i need, but im not good at placing what to where
