intermittent fasting

has anyone tried or heard much about intermittent fasting? From what I gather it goes something along these lines:

12-1 PM or around lunch/noon: Meal one. Approximately 20-25% of daily total calorie intake.
4-5 PM: Pre-workout meal. Roughly equal to the first meal.
8-9 PM: Post-workout meal (largest meal).

The majority of your daily calorie intake is consumed in the post-workout period. Depending on setup, this means that approximately 95-99% (fasted training), 80% (one pre-workout meal) or 60% (two pre-workout meals) of your daily calorie intake is consumed after training.

I'd like to hear/see more about it... but it seems to be appearing more and more these days. Interesting theories.

thoughts?

You can check out my article on intermittent fasting for more information. The 16/8 approach you describe is one of the more popular ways to do it (that's part of the Renegade Diet and Fat Loss Forever).

But you can also just fast for about 24 hours once or twice a week (Brad Pilon's program).

I've heard of it but never actually tried it...I have heard people getting great results from it though so it is probably worth trying.

this is definitely contrary to what I have been told. It's almost as if I can feel myself losing muscle mass if I don't eat every 2 to 3 hours. Something my body has definitely become accustomed to. I may have to try this out just to test.

not a fan of IF... eat 4 - 7 meals per day, high quality protein source at each meal, have as much carbs as you need for your goa, and eat healthy fats. Simple as that.

When you go fasting your body goes into starvation mode and hangs onto whatever fat it does have. 20-25% seems ok, this should give you a safe amount of weight loss per week
