Watermelon is the first that comes to mind...although I know it doesn't have much in the way of carbs. Pineapple is another that is somewhat higher. Also, there are...um...fruit cups filled with high fructose corn syrup. And...fruit flavored high fructose corn syrup candy. And... Not that many options.

Right, cantaloupe as well. And you could put dried fruit on the list. But then again look at the concentrated nutrients and fiber. But the glycemic load is very low with watermelon FOUR for a 120 gram serving. SO guess what....you ain't gonna eat enough carbs from watermelon to really do much. Unless you are one hell of a watermelan freak. Most of this stuff is blown out of proportion. So much water and fiber. The thing is (and I'm not trying to shoot anyone down I'm just doing my thing) you take someone with a diet full of added sugars, processed foods, and "white" stuff like pasta, white bread, blah, blah, blah...the typical bad diet, and put them on whole foods and even up to 3 servings or more of ANY kind of fruit and you are going to improve their insulin control, not disrupt it. It's high fiber, and the "sugar" comes in a very nutrient dense package.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

Go to google and find a glycemic index that you are comfortable using. Keep carbs NO HIGHER than 55 on the GI index for at least 85% of your carb intake. THIS IS CRUCIAL AND WILL HAVE A HUGE IMPACT ON RESULTS!! The lower the better.

Look at the glycemic load if you want to be real.

Cool. Thanks for the education Eric & TALO. Makes plenty of sense...I just realized where I got the misinformation from. I am going to have a talk with her about it as soon as I get a chance.

LOL, that's funny.

Not that I approve of such things.

She posts on the site every once in a blue moon. She is going to be doing another figure competition in several months. Surprises me that her pre/post workout nutrition isn't always that great. But when you depend on one person (your trainer) for most of your knowledge/advice, then that's kinda risky..

This taught me enough to convince her that half of a banana post workout isn't sufficient...contrary to what she told me. I already knew that there weren't enough carbs...didn't know about the whole GI deal though. I just got her to increase the protein in her PWO shake from 20 to 30 grams...that was hard work.
