Default No Energy

I'm new to lifting, but I've been working out with running and using the elliptical for awhile now. I've lost about 50 pounds in a little over a year...

My question is, how can I get more energy to work out by the end of the day? I am always so exhausted lately after work.

This week, I started taking in some protein powder in addition to my diet, and that helped a little.

Any other recommendations?

Breakfast is usually an egg or 1/2 cup eggbeaters, whole wheat english muffin with 1 tbsp jelly, and a piece of fruit

Morning snack is a piece of fruit

Lunch is usually a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread (no condiments), salad with fat free italian dressing, piece of fruit

Midday snack is usually a piece of fruit or a granola bar

Dinner is usually something like baked chicken breast (3 or 4 oz), steamed broccoli or brussels sprouts (or a similar veggie), salad with fat free italian dressing

After-dinner snack is something sweet but low-fat

Sleeping patterns: Recently been going to bed around 10 or 11 PM...and waking up around 6:30 AM.

You're not taking in many carbs. Carbs are your body's primary energy source. Your total calories look a little low also, but it might be ok if you're shooting for a caloric deficit. Have a carb/protein drink right after working out. Chocolate milk is a good choice. Having some protein before you run would be wise. Check out fitday.com

What fruit are you eating...? i ask cos fruit is converted into glucagon and stored in you liver rather than glycogen that is store in the muscle for fuel. You should be eating bananas (they also contain plenty of potassium - good for your muscles)

you diet is not bad you just need to eat more i would have 2-3 bananas/30g whey/10g glutamine/3g creatine/ 300g caffine pre workout and a good post workout shake of whey/dextrose/glutamine/creatine. then about 1 hour after have a high carb and protein meal - i like to stick to chicken and rice a condiment of sorts.... before bed have a casein shake mixed with some malto (makes it easier to shake up or it turns into something sooo gloopy you cant get it down) have about 40g.

Dont forget your vits and drink 6-8 litres of water a day.

I'm pretty sure that glucagon causes the liver to transform glycogen into glucose.

I'm not sure where you got glucagon storage in the liver.

300 grams of caffeine preworkout seems just a weeeeeeee bit excessive.....seeing that 3 grams intravenously accidently killed somebody.

^^I think he meant milligrams.

300 grams is almost 3/4s of a pound of caffeine. That's like eating a burger made of caffeine.
