Default Protein

I have recently read that excessive amounts of protien can put stress on your kidneys and interfere with calcium absorption. Has anyone heard this before and is there any truth behind it? Also, how much protein can the body digest in one go? I sometimes eat meals that contain more than 100g of protein.
