Default Cutting down diet for newbie

I've been eating a lot over the last couple months, and gained 6.6lbs most of which I'm sure is muscle, because I sure as hell am not getting fatter, I think I may have even lost fat. I'm a noob so I'm not really sure what I should be doing to prepare for cutting down? Should I be eating lots regularly to continue my bulking and speed up metabolism so it burns off lots when I continue with the same weights but less calories and some cardio (cutting down)? Does this sound like I'm going the right way about it? This is the first time in my life I have stuck to a routine longer than a couple weeks (about 3 1/2 months now), so I have no idea. What exites me is that I know I've got biceps bigger than dudes that have been bragging about theirs for the past year, while I've only been at it for almost 4 months, I just need to make them more visable Thanks for any help from the experts.
