Default Sport Nutritionist??

I was just wondering, has anyone ever gone to see a sport nutritionist for the purpose of developping a weight gaining diet pertaining to you're needs?

I recently spoke to one of the most jacked guys at the gym i go to, and he says that he spends around 2000$ a year getting referalls from his nutritionist on what to eat, how to eat it strategically, and informed me that having the knowledge of a nutritionist will help with you're overall gains as they design a program tailored specifically for you.

Any thoughts on this and if it is a smart route to take consdering proper and adequate nutrition is the most important thing in the muscle building world?
