What are your thoughts on a low carb diet...
I've done the low carb thing before and had dramatic results... however I never combined it with weightlifting.
Don't get me wrong... I'm not talking atkins... I'm just eliminiting all Bread Pasta Sugar Rice Potatoes Fruit I eat a lot of vegetables and intense amounts of chicken, fish, shrimp, eggs and a little red meat. I also take fish oil, chromium piconolate, acidipholis, multivitamins and creatine. Whatchya think? |
What are your goals? If your goal is to lose weight then sure, go for it. You'll want to carb up every once in a while ( 1x per week or so).

Ketogenic dieting is fairly versatile. I can't think of a good reason not to do it other than the fact that it can be a pain in the ass.

I've never been a fan of the keto diets especially long term. There are so many good choices of clean carbs and as long as your numbers are right, you can still make great progress.

They don't work for eveyone , but they do work well for others. If you keep your fat high enough than you can still make some good gains in the gym.

I've been thinking about starting a keto diet sometime soon. I'd like to do a *real* slow loss this year. Last year I went ballz out and lost alot of strength/muscle too because i dropped my cals too far.

There is a lot of info out there on keto dieting. I think that a large portion of it is erroneous. Some of the journals & logs that people keep are off the wall.
This is a good read: The Ketogenic Diet: A Complete Guide for the Dieter and the Practitioner by Lyle McDonald The Ultimate Diet 2.0 might be good for you also...he writes good books IMO. |
