Default To any concerned American

To any concerned American,

If you read a newspaper headline that said "Man Charged With Bank
Robbery," you would probably assume that there's a pretty good chance the
guy committed the crime. But what if instead the headline said "Man Asks
to Be Charged With Bank Robbery"? I bet that would make you a bit
curious. Why on earth would someone ask to be prosecuted? And does that
imply that he's guilty, or that he's not guilty?

A very unusual trial is scheduled to begin on August 9th, in federal court
in downtown Philadelphia (601 Market Street). I know, because I'm the
defendant, and for the last five years I have been asking the government
to prosecute me. No, not for bank robbery; for not filing tax returns.

The government likes to prosecute people who they catch lying about their
income, or cheating on their taxes, and then the government publicizes the
case. In this case, I wasn't "caught" doing anything, and I have been
publicizing the case, but the government has not.

Does what I've described so far seem bizarre to you? It should. People
like to quickly get to the punchline, and make up their minds about
something. But so far (just based on what I described above), this story
doesn't add up, does it? Well, if you want to see the missing pieces, and
to understand the rest of the story, all you need to do is send an e-mail
to the following address:

t-i-updates-on@mail-list.com

You'll be subscribed to my free e-mail update list (where there are 6,000
people who already know the whole story), and you'll get a series of a few
messages telling the rest of the story. (We don't give out anyone's
e-mail address, and unsubscribing is really easy, so there's nothing to
lose.)

How many people do you know who have asked to be prosecuted? Well I did,
for reasons that have a direct, major impact on YOUR life. If you want to
know more, just send an e-mail to the address shown above.

Sincerely,

Larken Rose

he's got his trial date schedule. sounds like he's pretty confident that its gonna be pretty one sided. (his side) anyways, heres the latest:

Dear Subscriber,

Here is the schedule of events for my trial. It will all happen in
Courtroom 9A (ninth floor) of the federal courthouse in downtown
Philadelphia (601 Market Street):

Jury selection, which is open to the public, starts at 1:00 p.m. on Monday
afternoon (August 8). Opening statements might also happen Monday
afternoon. Tuesday the government starts its case. Given how much we're
stipulating to, I can't imagine how it would take more than two days. So
the defense case should start Wednesday or Thursday, and may be about a
day and a half. After closing arguments (which should be interesting),
the jury gets the case, and it's anyone's guess how long deliberations
will take (somewhere between 10 minutes and 10 days).

Tessa's trial is scheduled to start almost immediately after mine is
finished, maybe not even waiting for the verdict in mine (since it will be
a different jury). When exactly it will start, and how long it will take,
is up in the air at the moment. When we know any more, we'll let you
know.

Sincerely,

Larken Rose
