Astym

got this done today by my physical therapist...he got certified last week...so i'm being a guinea pig :) apparently it's above and beyond the graston technique...as that only treats the area that's symptomatic....whereas astym treats the whole kinetic chain of the affected area. so for my bicep problem...we treated my forearms, my hands, biceps, triceps, all the delts, all the rotator cuff muscles, all 3 traps, rhomboids, levator scap, and pecs. i'm red, bruised, and smelling like cocoa butter. :)

gonna do a couple more sessions and see how it works out. it's kinda fun feeling all the gristle you have in your muscles that isn't supposed to be there :)

so i think i got my fifth treatment today and my bicep tendon is feeling great. we've been doing my left arm too, and it feels really good as well. i think we may start on my legs next week :) he said he got it done at the conference and after they were done, he felt like he weighed two pounds. they tested it on some football players as well....and their squat/powerclean went up...and their 40 times were faster...like...instantly.

he said he worked on an older guy who had a skiing accident, and really messed up his hamstring...he could only get his foot about 40 degrees off the floor....and after five treatments he is back to 90 degrees...running, jumping, walking with no pain.

soft tissue is where it's at :)
