Default Cold showers

Has anyone ever heard of taking cold showers or ice baths after a workout to speed up muscle recovery??

I could see why you would do it to reduce inflammation. Inflammation is good and bad though, so unless you're really messed up (injured), I don't think it's a good idea.

I just did a search and found this short article:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle2056508.ece

I think that the ice constricting the blood vessels and flushing out the lactic acid is:
a) unlikely
b) not very significant if it does happen
c) a pretty cool sounding idea
d) unproven

Like pity said, contrast showers make more sense.

Yes i have to agree here, the scientific facts are conflicting, but having warm then cold showers does seem to have some benifits..
