Truthfully if it's just the caffeine, and I'm sure it is, you'd be better off with coffee. I don't want to sit here and tell you that coffee is healthy but when it comes to a concrete length to specific health problems....the high fructose corn syrup probably wins the race. It's a weird thing to say, I know, but if you like coffee I'd consider drinking that instead. At least that way you can control the amount rather than being stuck with these huge cans you don't want to waste.

I actually read this thing recently about energy drinks being marketed to kids as young as 4! But the article made an absurd point. Saying that doctors were afraid one of the side-effects of early caffeine addiction is that it could develop into stronger performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. It sounds ridiculous on the surface to me. But the main thing is anybody knows who is addicted enough to caffeine that it ceases to be a "performance" enhancer. When you need caffeine just to bring you self up to a normal level you can hardly call that "enhancing".

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

That sounds quite similar to what they tell kids in gym class with regards to smoking and drugs. First you smoke cigarettes, then you move onto weed then you do heroine. I don't buy that personally. In the end it boils down to the individual but I don't like the idea that they generalize someone's behaviour as progressively heading towards the extreme end of the spectrum. Come on, coffee to roids, or cigarettes to crack cocaine. It may be true in some cases, but not many.
