I'm not really into Pantera, although I have a bunch of friends who are. Quiet Riot is just nostalgia for me. I don't listen to it that much. I think they are still around, playing clubs, too.

I don't know why you would want "peaceful" music to workout to. At least for me, the music gets the blood flowing and my motivation up. "Peaceful" stuff is for relaxing, or driving in the car. And I guess the BsB's are okay if you're 13 or 14...

As the title of the thread is "...Favorite Band" I never actually listed my favorites, only the ones I listened to in the gym.

Some of my favorites (in no particular order):

Rush
Led Zeppelin
Bruce Springsteen
The Who
The Rolling Stones
The Beatles
Bob Seger
The Cure
The Dead Kennedys

Not really into Skynard. Maybe becasue the classic rock stations here in nyc play them ad nasuem.

Do you have iTunes? There's a bunch of great radio stations on it. A very under utilized feature of the program, I believe. I'm listening to Virgin Radio UK right now. The also have "Air America" that I listen to sometimes. I have to see what the competition is up to. Listen to Franken for a laugh and Drudge for the straight dope.

Howard Stern fails to entertain me.

Mostly I listen to "conservative" talk radio. Drudge, Limbaugh, Hannity, levin. And Laura Ingram! Boy, I love her! When I found out she was getting married I was crushed. Honestly, I'm 35 and when I found that out, I felt like the time I was in 8th grade and found out the girl I really liked was going out with this other guy--totally crushed!

As for satellite radio...I can't see paying for it. But then again, didn't 90% of the people in the country say that about TV 25 years ago? I can deal w/ commercials.

And as for music, with devices like the iPod, I can have 4000 songs and shuffle them, and not have a repeat for 9 days.

For the iPod, I downloaded all my CD's (around 200) to my hard drive (iTunes), then copied them to the iPod. That's the only way to do it--can't copy directly to iPod.

Other songs I get from file-sharing networks. Most of them are songs that I wouldn't bother buying whole CD's for, so I have no moral qualms about "ripping off" the artists of the $1 they would have got had I bought the cd for $16 and I only wanted 1 song. Case in point: yesterday I downloaded "Don't Pay the Ferryman" by Chris deBurgh. There is no way I woulda bought the entire cd. No way in hell.

Satellite radio companies still pick and choose which "stations" to carry, so therein lies some censorship. Not everyone will be able to have their own satellite radio station.
