Pity, what type of metal did you cut, and what was it used for?

IW, uses for a lathe don't come up very often for me. Of the metal-working that I do, it's really small-scale stuff, and I'd be taking narrow bites out of the material per pass. And, I've got plans to make a reduction jackshaft gearbox to increase power to the bit. But, that'd be even further after making a dremel-holding mill!
