I hate my Chinese Spanish professor that is supposed to be teaching ME phonetics and diction. We spent 45 minutes copying notes off of an overhead projector in an 85 degree classroom...I asked why he didn't make copies and explain the material during class time and he just berated me for 10 minutes and basically told me I was stupid...wouldn't let me respond, just kept talking over me until class ended. He is numero uno on my shit list.

You got a "Stop Snitchin" t-shirt yet monsta?

When I used to work for the DOJ, attorney's would get pissed with that shit. There was one case we had where an informant went up to the stand, took off his jacket and had one of those shirts on, and took the 5th on everything. They got so mad, and I felt bad cause I couldnt stop laughing.

My angst is most relevant in the health club. I work my full-time, stress-loaded job and hit the health club to burn off some stress and blubber. It appears to me that the majority of teens in my health club are not there for any other reason than socialization. And, Lord help us all, there be a female working out with them. A few days ago one of our trainers had to tell one of them to stick his tongue back in his mouth because his drool was getting on the dumbbells. I actually witnessed one of them almost rip his shoulder from its joint because these ladies were working out in front of him. This genius loaded way too much weight on the bar and tried to hoist it up over his head. It was really funny watching that amount of macho becoming that amount of pure, unadulterated embarrassment….especially when one of the ladies kept asking him if he’d hurt himself.

Let’s see….what else? They spend way too much time talking, congregating, and taking up space versus actually working out. This one dude was in the middle of a set and his cell-phone rang. His precious, at-the-moment girlfriend needed to speak to him about something so important that he immediately stopped his workout, planted himself on the bench, and spent the next 10-15 minutes discussing whether or not so-and-so had really been talking trash about her.

Ross, this might not be the best approach, but I've had some overbearing teachers like that before, and its good not to challenge them infront of others. they will always get defensive, and even if you win the argument, its still going to screw you when grades come out.

I would usually ask them to talk to me after class, or set up a meeting durring office hours, and tell them that "I learn better if ... " and put it to them that way.

I agree...I need to go talk to him. He is also my adviser in the department...I have one class left to go before I get my Spanish degree and I haven't even declared the major yet because I don't want to bother with him. He told us that we wrote the notes for memorization, but he hadn't even explained the material yet, so we were just memorizing 'words'. And class ended before he got the opportunity to explain it. It would have made sense if he had done it in opposite order. 40% of our grade is 'participation' also, which is impossible to gauge other than the impression that we make with him inside and outside of class. So...I will have to bite my tongue and go talk to him. I know the type of person that you're talking about...I just don't know if he is that person. I should get an idea soon enough anyway. Too bad he doesn't speak English.........blah.

i hate the "spring break" crowd that is taking over the gym at my college. it was great over winter break. nobody was in the weight room, i was able to get to everything that i needed, and i didn't have to see people doing all kinds of goofy lifts. i normally don't like to criticize people's crazy looking lifts, because i'm sure some of the things that i do (i.e. floor press and box squat) look strange to them, but today i saw a kid doing some of the goofiest looking shit i've ever seen. he was doing 1 armed bench press with a barbell with 2.5's on each side while laying on one of those swiss balls. i wanted to kick him in the head. but at least i know that most of the people will be out of the weight room by mid march.

That pisses me off too. I forgot about the whole spring break thing. There is a kid in my gym that takes a fixed weight 15lb barbell and lifts it straight up in the air above his head with one arm & locks out. And he holds this position with the other hand on his hip. For five minutes at a time. It is the highlight of my workout when he is in the gym. He does this "exercise" for about 30 minutes every workout. He is the man.
