Default The ideal power cage/rack

Talo and I are building power racks for ourselves. Your input would be appreciated. I figured I'd go ahead and start the thread because I know he and I will be bouncing ideas back and forth. And it may give other people some ideas.

LOL , fucker , you beat me to it...

But yeah any idea's would be great ( from measurments to any extra's that can be welded on to the cage ) .

I don't think I will make it any higher than 7 ft .

Also I'm wondering if 1 1/2 inch square tubbing would be enough or if a person should go with 2" ? I don't think it will ever see more than 1000 lbs.

Dip station and chin up station are a must .

I have thought about doing something like this so I could just flip the bench up and use the same rack. I was going to have a cross piece so I could attach a pull up bar. I know you can build handles that hook in the same way the hooks for your bar do. You can build them for dips & they're supposedly pretty stable. I'll have plate holders on all corners of the rack to keep it stable and obviously attachments for bands.

Travis & I have been chatting about building an adjustable bench. On competition benches at powerlifting meets, the benches are covered with a grippy material that feels like suede leather. I would love to have an adjustable bench with the same material. Judging by Elite's prices on mediocre adjustable benches, you could sell the thing for +$1,000.

This is basically what I'm looking for:

That is a perfect set up . I noticed they used 2x2 bar. A guy should be able to build that for about $100 ( in parts )

After thinking about it I would rather not put that bench in there and buy a sep one that can go to an incline.

Seems like if the only thing you need is to settle on dimensions and the spacing you want for the holes

I'm going to price out the difference between the two sizes.

I think I'll do top closed on mine. I'm going to donate some money for some type of radial arm drill press I think. It will probably be a month or two before I have mine made. Travis has been paying about $300 to have the holes drilled for his racks and yokes at the local steel place. Sucks for him because he can't really make a profit like that.
