Default Job ideas?

So along with the new year I decided that I really need to focus right now and figure out what the hell I want to do… ever since I got out of the Marine Corps ive been wandering aimlessly it seems. Been at jobs I don’t enjoy, been at jobs I enjoy… been everyone… does landscaping, sales, customer service…. I want to start learning toward future… and its always harder to decide yourself but I figure if I gave some of my likes that some of you great people might have some great ideas!

At one point I really wanted to do police work… but that’s pretty much out the window with my OWI and other offenses on my record… so I was thinking maybe private personnel security which I would have to get certs for… but that’s a pretty hard market to get into too

I love working with people face to face, im a very social outgoing person and some of the jobs I’ve enjoyed the most were ones like working at Sprint where I worked in a close environment with people… not sure sales is really my thing but it’s probably better than the cubicle job I have now. I liked working physical labor when I was in it, but I probably wouldn’t want to take that a career.

I also thought about being a EMT because I love helping people.

So I was thinking today… I should become a personal trainer! I’d get to work everyday with people in close proximity, it would be a fun environment, and I’d get to help people change their lives for the better. But I know they say don’t mix business and pleasure… not sure if working in a gym all day would ruin it for me or not…

Input…? Job Suggestions?

The catch with being a personal trainer is 9 times out of 10, it's not very lucrative. The better money is in private practice, but it takes time to build up the clientelle.

If you're looking to get on at a corporate gym, the best bet is to try and work your way up to being either a sales manager or fitness manager.

Also, with a lot of gyms, it's best to get your certification out of the way before hand. Most places only require the basics, like and ACE or APEX course. Fairly cheap, and you can always go for the better certs later.

^^^ IK is right. My brother is a personal trainer and he has a hard time making ends meet. He did tough it out and he made some good money as a manager till he switched companies.

whats the OWI and what are the offenses? if you don't want to be specific, are they criminal charges ala felony?

if the OWI isn't stopping you, get into the market. trading or working for a broker... theres lots of opportunity for financial gain and it can be a very exciting and fun environment to work in
