I didn't really see a thread on here about music people use for motivation. So I am making one.

I am first and foremost a metal fan. I listen to some pretty extreme stuff but I have found that alot of the stuff like Cryptopsy for example is simply too heavy of a pace (some songs being in the range of 250 beats per minute) to workout to.

I prefer the midrange stuff, Silent Civilian, Nothingface, Pantera, something with a groove that is easier to go along with. The gym I attend plays the same top 40 stuff (hip hop/r&b/sappy love pop) and I find that hard to get motivated to. Listening to Shakira's 'Hips don't lie" for me is very painful. And I find myself rushing to get out of there. I spose it is because they are trying to build a membership base and want something innoffincive over there airwaves.

What about you guys? What types of music motivated you and keeps you going?

For me its tough to pick just one genre of music, there is so much out there that picks me up and gets me going. I'm a metal fan also, pantera the whole vulgar display of power cd, and some of cowboys from hell ... that shit pumps me up. I am also a huge hip hop fan, mos def gets me going, freeway, methodman/redman, I could go on ...

Most gyms play shitty music because its more or less a family enviorment ... its hard to keep a gym open if the only people that are members are meatheads/metal heads

For me its Hard Rock (GNR/Buckcherry), Metal (Pantera), and some 80's Metal (Crue, Skid Row, etc) in the mix as well...anythings better than the music they play at my gym.

best thing about my gym, its about 700 square feet of football players. so we can listen to the pantera and the metallica. also AC/DC, most classic rock. anything loud and rock. im glad i dont haveto max to shakira, or id end up killing the workers there.

I prefer Metal and 80's rock for the most part, but as long as it is not the bubble gum pop bullshit you hear all the time now I am alright.
