Default My new gym sucks...

Just joined a new gym close to my work, because working out after work just wasn't cutting it.

The place has plenty of weights and machines, but:

--No one (and I mean no one!) re-racks their weights! There are plates on every piece of equipment. And the plates that are on the racks are all jumbled--25's on top of two 45's which is on top of that 10 lb'er I wanted to use...I wont even mention the sate of the db's. Argh!

--Almost no one wipes down the machines when they are done with them. And there are plenty of spray bottles and paper towel machines around. I carry around a bottle of Windex with me.

--The squat cage is tiny. I keep feeling like I'm gonna hit the posts. Plus, it's so low, I can't do my militaries in it--I have to move the pins to the outside.

--The music is that dance club crap. Thank God for iPods!

--No one wears shower shoes. How disgusting!

--No hot chicks (at least not at 1 o'clock). Well, maybe that's good. Nothing to distract from my workout.

:(

Is it a corperate gym? Mine's pretty much the same.

A perfect gym IMO would have a chalk pit. If it had that, chances are good they'd also have heavy metal playing, numerous power cages, and DB's over 120 lbs...My old gym back in MA was all free weights. Their machines were neatly tucked away in a tiny subsection where they belong.

i'm in love with my university gym... as long as i come in when it's not completely packed it's nice

5 squat racks, dbs up to 140, separate free weight area from the machines, free spots from the workers if you need it, good music... gotta love it

Besides the tiny squat cage, I'm pretty happy with the equipment selection. I just wish people would wipe down the machines when they are done with them. I not only wipe them off before and after I use them, but I also use the spray cleaner (I use diluted Windex).

And people using shower shoes would be nice, too...

I would just drop the bar right in the middle of the rep, let it slam on the floor and then stare him down for a good minute or two. Should prevent him from asking you anything... ever again haha

I tend to avoid eye contact in my gym to avoid people doing that to me. I don't understand why some people cant wait 20 seconds before asking to work in with you.
