I still think Lyle's right. The 2006 emails refer to permission granted for a different product.

LOL, so Alwynn's side is basically we used the same studies, fine. What isn't fine is when something is taken literally WORD for WORD to make a profit. Compounded to that is that "other side of the story" where he what? 'Forgets' to follow through and quote him?? :lame:

^^^ I agree completely. Lyle has every right to be pissed. Alwyn's side of the story doesn't cut it. When Alwyn copied a chapter from one of his own books (Real World Fat Loss) to another (Warp Speed Fat Loss) how does a whole section, Lyle's credit, get omitted? It should be easy to copy one of your own chapters in it's entirety.

Conspiracy Theory: Maybe all this hype has purposefully been created so both books get sold in plentiful: UD2.0 and WSFL

:biglaugh:

There's a dark thought LMAO!

In case anyone's interested to pass this along, it's what we thought:

his email claim is, of course, bullshit

even if I gave him permission to use a SUMMARY for RWFL that has no bearing on the new project

as well, cutting my text nearly word for work is not a SUMMARY by any normal definition.

the simple fact is that he and I haven't spoken since last year when we had our falling out, he knew better than to ask permission to use my work for warp speed because he knew I'd say no. not that what he used was a summary in the first place.

so he's trying to play the game of 'better to ask forgiveness than permission'

Wow. That's messed up.

I hate plagiarism. While we're on the subject, if you POST a thread without any citation, and LET people believe you wrote it wihout saying something, that is plagirism.

If you find a post on another board but the author is not listed all you have to do is google a phrase or two and you should be able to find the original source pdq. It bugs the hell out of me how many posts are floating around ten times removed from their original author. LOL, it pisses me off and there isn't even any money involved!

Here is what's funny in terms of my own thoughts as of late. It has been bugging me that so much of the strength and conditioning industry involves back scratching and ass-kissing just in case you need a plug for one of your products or you want permission, etc.

Take a lesson from that. Just because your favorite strength and conditioning guru A sings the praises of guru B it doesn't always mean they even agree on a fundamental level! Most of the time there is enough integrity that these guys will try to do what is "right" in their minds but you have to read every person for what their stuff is worth to you and not because of their reputation, necessarily. Not that reputation doesn't matter, you just have to dig deeper.
