Default Something I noticed over the weekend.

This weekend I took a trip with a couple of my friends to Cincinnati, Ohio to King's Island Amusement Park.

Now I decided to wear a muscle shirt that day and found myself "center of attention." And I noticed out of the 10,000's of people there I was the only one that looks like they body build.

It just amazes me of the amount of people that look at me and they seem like they never seen anyone with muscles before. I got stares all day and it got ridiculous. Now its not the first time I noticed this but being around that many people it was very apparent.

Now Im a pretty big dude (240lbs with 20" arms). Now Im not toned or anything just a thick person.

I just don't understand the type of attention I get. Half of it seemed negative while the other half seemed positive. People just confuse me sometimes. Most of the time I just wanted to get up in their face and ask them "What the fuck you looking at?", because it seemed rude to me. Just thought Id throw that out there and wondered if anyone else notices this sort of behavior in public.

Now imagine being a chick, getting those kinds of stares, when it's considered 'gross' by most people for a woman to have some muscle

I get plenty of odd stares. But it seems I get more commenting from the peanut galleries than most men do. Commonly, "why would you want to do that to yourself?" And I'm by no means a big gal.

It's kinda sad to think that so much of the population finds muscle (on a man or a woman) to be so 'odd'. Shows the level of laziness and disregard for health most people have

when 2/3 Americans are overweight and 1/3 are so fat they are considered Obese, do you really wonder why you get so much attention when you are not only FIT, but muscular???

its becoming increasingly rare to see people who aren't fat slobs, and the muscle shirt only made it more obvious.

Totally agree on the statistics factoring in to people's behavior. But seriously when it makes you feel like you have a disability it really makes you wonder what is going through these people minds.

Yes the compliments are nice, although it sucks when you scare off most people when you could be the nicest most sensitive person around lol.

IK- I see what you mean too, girls get stares just for being them and adding something to their physique only heightens that. So I see how it must be more difficult.

Yeah, you must look like a weirdo...not being obese and actually being fit...what are you thinking???

Sounds annoying though for sure. People are

Nothing against the north, but there are a lot more people out and about that lift in the south from what I've seen. I really noticed it at a Brad Paisley concert I went to this summer. Every other third person could probably bench +250 and every other tenth person looked like he could bench +300. I think it's somewhat of a cultural/geographical thing. Does anyone agree or am I loco? I noticed this at the concert because I had just gotten back from Spain where NO ONE body builds.....

Oh this is one of my peeves. I hate when people stare at me, sometimes I check a mirror to see if it says "fuck you" on my forehead. In all honesty, its good attention sometimes but most of the time I'd like to slide through un-noticed.

The funny thing about people thinking muscle is 'odd', or some unknown phenomenon capable by only a few, is that back in the day (spartans, vikings, gladiators) it was desirable to be a strong motherfucker and capable of smashing things to fuck. Nowadays having the smaller beer gut among buddies is a sign of 'fitness'.

You know, that kind of thing used to happen a lot a few years ago. Seems like since I moved to NYC no one really notices, or gives a shit. Most people are so wrapped up in themselves up here, they dont pay any attention to anyone else.

It never really did bother me though, I'm used to not fitting in I guess. Its funny how people of the type gravitate toward eachother though, especially in public places. I couldnt tell you how many times I would be at the bar, or at a party or whatever, and the two other guys/gals who lift heavy would come over and introduce themselves right off the bat. Which kinda makes it worse, then instead of one dude who everyone is looking at, you have a group.
