Default Unwanted competition

Am i the only one that didnt know this? But whilst hard at work in the gym doing my bench pressing i got the feeling i was being watched. A guy bp next to me was eyeing me up i thought, i was worried! however i soon noticed that when i added weight to my bar he did the same plus an extra 5kg. I spoke to a pt and he explained that most people who train like to compete against each other. Is it me or do i need to change my gym Anyone heard of this?

I never pay enough attention in the gym to anyone else that I would notice.

Yeah, I've heard of other people doing that. Especially since I'm still in school & a lot of the students are still kids...people are fucking weird. I wouldn't change gyms; just ignore it. I understand that it would be annoying. I'm pretty fortunate in that most of the people at my gym are serious and fairly well educated in regards to ES.

Why do you give a shit what other people think?

LOL....just concentrate on your own training because not matter what you lift, there IS someone out there who is stronger than you.

So, be humble and worry about yourself.

Sorry bud, but I have a 20,000lb calf raise. No one has stronger calves than me. You can probably power curl more than me though

I would never let it bother me, just find it strange that guys go to a gym to secretly compete with another dude. Could be a British thing.

It's a man thing. Nothing to do with race.

Unless you are west african....because in that case everyone just wants your awesome genetics!

Ha, try being a girl that pushes heavy weight in the gym! I train at an all guys gym. I've been there for years, so the guys that have been around forever are cool. The newbies college and high school guys make it a point to come right next to me and go for the heavier weights...or try like hell...

I make it a point not to make eye contact with anyone. I do notice it but who cares...I'm just in there to do my thing and go home.
