I first lifted weights in H.S. as well, although it was definately iso ex's, and only lat pulldowns, calf raises, military press, and tricep pushdowns, lol. I did, however, stretch like mad before working out, which is something i need to do again!

I then worked in an environment very much involved in bodybuilding and nutrition. I admit my esteem is not great when it comes to my body, and I love the feeling of progress and controlling an aspect of my life (getting up @ 4.30am for the gym, and eating healthy).

Stretching before lifts isn't such a good idea. Check out the stretching sticky for more info.

I got started after sophomore year wrestling (my first year). The captain took me and another kid to the gym. We did, like, bench press, incline bench, and curls, or something. No lower body whatsoever, but we spent a lot of time on curls. After junior year I joined here and started learning all of the many things I was doing wrong. I started SS and jumped up like 20lbs within a month - obviously not all muscle but the beginner gains were enough to get me hooked. At least partially I owe this site a huge thanks for helping me get to a state title, actually.

Pretty much right after high school. I was pissed at how small I was (6 ft 150lbs) and was determined to do something about it.
