ME BENCH:
DB Press: 55 (4 x 15) - Still very easy. Floor Press: 225 x 5, 245 x 3, 275 x 3 * Added 45 lbs of chains 275 x 1, 295 x 1, 315 x 1, 330 - miss - Chains were 20 lbs apiece plus the heavy rings. The guys told me my strength wasn't the reason for my miss. It was a form issue. I should've started with the bar further down at lockout, then brought it down lower. My problem was that I was benching in a "J" fashion meaning I started bringing the bar towards my face. In any event, it's a real easy fix for next time. Standing OHP: 70 lb DB's x 8, 8, 8 - 90 seconds rest Rolling DB Triceps Extensions: 35's + monster mini's x 10, 10, 10, 10 - 60-90 seconds rest Rear Lateral Raises: 40 x 10, 10, 10 - 60 seconds rest Done and done. My mind was back home as my grandpa passed away today. But it was good to get some work done. I also got to meet Steve Dennison whose in charge of powerlifting competitions in CA. There's one coming up in Venice Beach the middle of September they want me to attend. Probably compete benching. Any event, no need to send condolences, I know you guys. EDIT: I forgot to add I also did a 295 x 1 set w/ the chains.... |

Two things. I started with the bar a little too high before the decent, and when I started pressing up, it wasn't in a straight line. It was drifting a bit towards my grape. That's the problem with always lifting alone. But now I have a strong group to critique me. Luckily, all that is technique, not strength. :D

Here's my FIRST set of 15 DB pressing for increased GPP. This is just after I walked in just to show you how easy these are SUPPOSED to be!
No warmups should be used. I'm already up to 55's, and can easily see myself up to 70-80's before I change. |
330 + 45 lbs chains - MISSED LIFT
This was my final set. I nailed 315 pretty easily. The guys thought I probably could've tripled it with my speed, so I added 15 more lbs lol. I wanted to post this to show everyone WHY I missed due to my form. You'll notice the bar drift back towards my face preventing lockout. My spotter said he just guided the bar back down where it belonged, and I was able to press it up.. Missed it nonetheless. EDIT: The video isn't ready yet LOL. |
Dammit! I was all set to go and the vid wasn't ready.
 |
Try going to my youtube page. I can see it over there, but not here for some reason? I think I'm the only one who likes to vid misses and posts them LOL. The last few inches I couldn't get due to the bar drift.. That's the reason I thought it a great idea to post for educational purposes. :D
..And yes, I DID tape the 315 + chains which I smoked. Problem is the camera tipped forward on the lens during the lift. |
Oh, BTW..
When you guys see my floor press, let me know if you see something in it that I'm not known for!! |
It's a great idea to post a vid like that that is about technique. Which is why I would watch it not because I just want to see you miss a lift :biglaugh:
Ummm...what are you not known for? I don't see it :) |
Really? Just look at the floor press picture without playing it. :D
