Those deadlifts look like you are more "knee squatting" down to the wieght.

Pity is right, get your shins close to the bar,and when you bend down to grab the bar stick your ass back, NOT your knees forward, this will keep tension in the glutes hams, you will then need to arch your back hard.I am not saying that the knees cant move forward a bit, but dont concentrate on pushing them as far forward as they are going now.

Heres a vid of GUS Wolf http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=zMBS5lAd1RQ

He is one sexy bastard when he pulls deadlifts.

Rippetoe has some good vids, but they can be somewhat confusing!! http://www.crossfit.com/cf-info/excercise.html

Scroll down to the powerlifts section.

Oh and I never include the weight of the bar in my listings, its too much to think about!!

Keep us informed mate!

Damn you Hopper :D I'm slightly obsessed with deadlifting and I still don't think I've narrowed in on my 'best' setup. I must've watched anuj's video 12 times last night :biglaugh:

I think I've got my knees over the bar too much, not sticking my ass back enough. And I'm undecided with IW's "retract your scapula" suggestion, I think shoulder's back (not retracting the scapula hard) would be better?

^^^ I suppose the scapulae don't have to be pinched "hard", but it's difficult to get get your shoulders back without having the scapulae retract. :)

Is there an actually rack you can use for pressing instead of cleaning it up?
Yup, there is (see squat video)..

Good thinking..

I can't wait to see your new videos in a week or two. :) All of the major problems I saw have been addressed. You might want to write down the list of things that were mentioned and bring it to the gym with you. Practice with just the bar...or you can practice it at home. You definitely won't be able to remember everything while you're lifting. You have a solid base & with the new improvements in technique and with you going up in weight on your squats, you should see some immediate gains.

Diet looked good yesterday. Remember, no one is a saint. You know the difference between eating perfect, eating well, and cheating like crazy. You'll get where you want to be by eating well. And you might maintain your sanity that way. :biglaugh:

Hmm could be why you manage to hack squat more than you pull maybe? Not sure, I would def look into it tho. I am probs the last person who should critique peoples pulls tho.My best setup seems to be a cross between Sumo and conventional!! :biglaugh:

That's exactly what I was thinking, looking at my hacks and deads.

I've been itching to deadlift since tuesday, ironically enough thats the day after my deadlift workout lol. Next dead workout I'm going to really work on my form. I might not be engaging my glutes enough either. But I don't want to get into analysis paralysis lol I'm bad enough as is.
