Oh yeah, it's time to get serious with it now. What happened to the chalk and the over/under if needed.

On 315 looked excellent. On 335 you lumbar was rounding out a bit but you had good control of the weight. You didn't really start with a good enough arch though so that's probably why. Just watch it in future and get the chest and shoulders up....I dont mean change your angle I mean just exxagerate poking your chest up....you know what I mean :arg:

Good job.

chalk still hasnt come from APT. i did the over-under on 315 with no straps. 335 was straps included. next time im trying 315 with over-over.

ill look for that and ill try to keep my chest out. the thing is, i was so nervous and scared id miss this lift that i was too busy thinking about trying NOT to screw up. ill focus on my arch more next time, sir.

thanks :)

Great job on the 315 man. For some reason 3 plates (with very good form) is a big milestone, moreso than a sloppy 4 wheel bar bender :biglaugh:

Military Press Day
Cycle 10

Overall Impression:
weighed in at 170 again. today was a sort of alright workout. im not too happy though. kinda disappointed, actually.
The Workout:
Standing Barbell Military Press
- bar x 5 reps x 2 sets
- 95 lbs x 3 reps
- 125 lbs x 2 reps
- 135 lbs x 1 rep
- 145 lbs x 1 rep
- 155 lbs x 1 rep
- 165 lbs x 0 fail
- 165 lbs x 0 fail
- 135 lbs x 5 reps
Ok, so I rested for 3-5 minutes between each set. between the two attempts at 165, i rested for 5 minutes. i felt awesome on the warm-ups. the bar practically felt weightless up even till 155. i just threw the weight up. my elbows were ahead of the bar - everything! but then, 165 got stuck at midpoint and i wasnt able to press it out. on the second attempt, i kinda push-pressed it but then stopped midway because i realized its bad form and the weight got stuck again :( fuck.

EDT Training @ 15 minute Time Block
- Dumbbell Rows @ 70 lbs = 10 + 10 + 9 + 8 + 8 + 10 = 55 reps (+7 from last time)
- Dumbbell Press @ 60 lbs = 10 + 10 + 9 + 7 + 6 + 7 = 49 reps (+7 from last time)
this really made me almost puke

Facepulls
- 70 lbs x 12 reps x 2 sets

Ab Work
- Hanging Leg Raises superset with Front Plate Squats = 12 reps x 2 sets and 25 lbs x 12 reps x 2 sets respectively

HIThopper 03-10-2008 11:32 PM

Bad luck on the press bro, that EDT stuff looks tough too, good work.

Them's the breaks. It goes like that sometimes. You'll have to cut back the intensity because if you don't you'll prob just find it getting worse. Don't worry there is always a way to go.

Anyway the idea was to just go for a new max. This looked more like you were trying to gather singles. If you are going to go for 165 you wouldn't normally precede that with 155. If you had skipped over the 155, failed at 165 you prob would have had a good chance of hitting the 165 after resting again. When you get strong enough at a particular lift, sometimes a failed attempt is actually a good acclimation for a next attempt. But your last acclimation was way too close to your attempt.

That is not to say that doing it that way doesn't ever work for the right person at the right time. My body actually works better that way. I tend to get stronger as I go along and get more and more acclimated. I'd be screwed if I had go all or nothing right off the bat, haha.

But you don't know enought about your body yet to be doing acclimations 10 pounds away from your attempt.

BTW, I really don't like OH presses EDT style coming after your CNS intensive pressing.

_Wolf_ 03-11-2008 01:08 PM

Eric, those werent OH Presses EDT style. they were regular dumbbell bench presses :) look at the weight sir...i havent done 60 lbs db presses for shoulders in a long time!

i used 155 as a warm-up because i had no idea what i was capable of. i thought 155 is good because its better to be safe than sorry. but its ok. shit happens sometimes i guess.
