Default my progress journal - starting on ss

I am going to track my progress on here so i can have a record of how im doing and you guys can shout at me if you think that i should be doing something different lol :-)

started lifting again properly this week on the rippetoes program (got the book delivered yesterday morning i never knew there was so much to learn about the basics)

anyhow:

current diet:

1st meal: synergy protein shake + 2 bowls oat cheerios and yoghurt
2nd meal: pharma whey shake + banana
3rd meal: synergy protein shake after the gym
4th meal: 4 scrambled eggs with milk + tin beans + wholemeal pita
5th meal: 30g almonds + banana + yoghurt
6th meal: salmon or tuna with whole wheat pasta + veg
7th meal: pharma whey shake before bed

i am trying to up the amount of food i eat but i dont think this is a bad starting block i currently weight just under 10 stone and am trying to build up from there, aiming for 12 stone. i have yet to calculate my carb intake but am taking in around 150grams of protein a day.

i hope people think that this is a sensible eating plan, obviously it varies a bit day to day however this is a fairly standard day.

I have followed the form advice from the starting strength book and will continue to read this and improve on lifting technique each time.

tightened up on my squat form today have been really concentrating on feet position and having the bar placed correctly. found that once i had it placed sligthly lower down on my rear delts and went into the squat with the bar at around collar bone height that i found this easier today. also with my bench am watching my hand position trying to turn it in slightly and also to keep my shoulder blades pinched together with head just slightly off the bench.

going to take the weekend off then i can start the workout A and B routine switch from monday. Gives me something to look forward to mondays for :-)

oh yeah today (friday 4th) also did 2sets of 8 reps of hanging leg raises for abs (as suggested in the book) making sure that each rep was from a dead hang not a swing start.

Looks good. I take it you held the weight over on squats specifically to just work on form. If so, good job.

Training if fine for now. I would be more concerned about you trying to up your calories too quickly or put in more solid food then you can handle. As IK pointed out to handling the workload on this will hinge on diet. If you have trouble keeping up please don't hurt yourself by going to far with food too quickly. You can always back off and adopt a more manageable training load. You may not necessarily grow as much for a bit but you can still gain strength which will help you. You can always referr to your brawn books as that is a more conservative methodology. But that is all unrelated right now so just keep up the good work.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

yeah ive tried to take as much on board everyone has been telling me as possible, ive been trying to just eat slightly more regular to fit in more food, ive found that its not been too bad im just going to keep increasing amounts slowly so as not to rush things both on the eating and the amount of weight lifted. But its a fair point eric im trying to keep a training journal so i can record how i feel lifting the weights but what i also do is keep a food journal so everything i eat gets written down and i also put how its made me feel so i can track if there are things that dont agree with me or make me feel bad. I hope by doing this i will have a greater understanding of what foods i can eat more of and what i should avoid or cut down on. I think that this seems the most sensible approach to this. I just hate having something that holds me back i try to look on it as something to overcome to make the end result of what im trying to do more satisfying.

weights have been left lower partly to see how my body handles the program and i figure after some of the advice given to me by people on here that if started with lighter weights and just increase the weights by a small amount each week then hopefully i this will help my body get ready for when the weights start to become more challenging. As has been repeated on here many times over im just really trying to nail my form to be as perfect as it can be so that at least i know that i am lifting as safety and properly as i can.

and also thanks widdoes for the comment its nice to have positive encouragement from people you guys have a wealth of knowledge and your time is appreciated.

got a day of relaxing tomorrow and rest and then back to the weights on monday after work looking forward to it already :-)

^^^He just had a surgery that affects his stomach which is why we're harping on it more.

You have the right attitude, nicky. Just concentrate on what you CAN do, not on what you can't.

^^Yeah, usually its 'you must eat more or else' or in 0311's case 'eat or stay the fuck out of the gym'...this time its 'eat as much as you're comfortable with'.

Of course this is a special case, and most likely the 'others' with diet problems will get a harsher treatment to make up for the leniency here.

Keep up the good work Nicky
