Squat Technique Day

Did some heavish doubles today, ended up with 5 and a couple singles at 300lbs or so.I am really finding it hardest to get to depth, I brought my stance in a bit but am probs till a little high on some reps.Hmmm lemme know guys if you see anything I can work on.Did heavy reverse crunvhes next then some hypers.I am gonna be sore tommoro!

Squat Day 11/9/09

Free Squat
5x2 130kg
2x1 130kg

Close Stance Squat Beltless
2x5 80kg

Reverse Crunches
1x8 BW+10kg
2x8 BW+15kg
1x5 BW+17.5kg Too ambitious!

Hypers
About 6 sets of 8 up to 25kg

Try with your feet an inch or two (maybe even a few) outside shoulder width. Your stance still looks pretty wide from that last camera angle.

No those were raw smart ass!!

Kane you are right, the last shot shows I might be a tad wide still, I'll bring it in a bit again and shoot another vid and see how it feels.

Do you guys think I could do any type of stretching or mobility work to be able to get below parallel with that stance tho? I love squatting wide it feels way stronger than a more narrow squat.

If something feels tight, such that it restricts your motion, then maybe try stretching that out after your workout.

Wide IS stronger. You reduce the ROM and get the glutes/hams in it more.

The hips don't have an infinite range of motion, you might not be able to physically go down further at that stance. Can you feel your hip joints restricting movement or any type of discomfort?

i was just reading a robertson article the other night....i forget the title. but, there was a very good idea in it. like 3 times a day...get into your squat stance, and do bodyweight squat iso's....just have something to hold onto out front for balance...use a mirror or two, and just try to squeeze out more depth. but like kane said....hip ROM is not infinite
