I think I def need a power cage, I like the one that E posted (thx for taking the time E, Love ya work mate) My only concern is I squat pretty damn wide and I dont want to have to bring my stance in to accomodate a rack, but it would work sweet for most of my other ME work that is done with a narrower stance.Hmmmm what to do!!
a power rack is really the best option but may not work out for you if your ceiling is low! the one i have is quite wide and has good depth as well so even a guy much bigger than me would have no problems squatting inside the cage. they do make a "topless" power rack that might be a good option for you as well and it's not too pricey.

The powercage is abit narrow. The bodysolid half rack is plenty wide enough though. Other than that you could look for a wider powercage but the dollars go up.

I've always just had a half-rack which is wider and that has served me just fine. Of COURSE a power cage has advantages for really advanced stuff like if you want to put bands overhead or something like that....but it's high enough to do most "common" stuff and with creativity you can overcome.

Oh and I'm glad that the speed work following me worked out for you. It's really just facilitation. But I would point out that it may not hold true for everyone all the time. It's like anything..you try it and if it works it works. If it don't, it don't. I actually do well either way but my body responds particularly well, I think, to cns intensive stuff versus volume stuff.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

Too bad you don't have a welder friend ( unless you do ) then you could have a custom cage.

You know the next time I meet a welder I'm gonna invite him (or her..preferably) out for a beer

i'm in the mist of talking to one right now ( I work with him ) . He said he started building one a few years ago but it was such a pain in the ass that he never finished it. I figure if I do all the grunt work (drilling holes and cutting ) then he can just put it together for me.

Yeah I got a couple of mates that weld so I might have to go that route I think. That way I can space out all I want when I squat.
