hahah for me its been a life long struggle. I was always the fat kid. Although the more i learn the easier it gets, I can honestly say this go around, i've gotten just as lean as I have ever been, and i havent struggled nearly as much as i used to.

stay dedicated, and read as much as you can here. It will become second nature.

Alright so i guess i should update this shit.

Weight: 218-220lbs

Diet: Is clean and continues to get easier, my hunger is none existant, I have to force myself to eat 2000cals a day. I have to be very careful that I dont drop into a starvation state.

Training: Since my shoulder is all but fucked, I have been laying off all pushing movements. no bench, no dips, no shld press, its pissing me off. But now when I wake up in the morning, my arm isnt numb, so I guess thats a good thing. I've added in the rehab movements from the shoulder thread I posted.

Due to some lower back problems I've moved my a2g squats over to the smith, and i've dropped my deadlift numbers significantly. I will slowly work them back up, SLOWLY!!!

*Martial Arts: This is were I've made my largest improvements lately. Flexibility, speed, and endurance have all shot up in the past month. Its just getting easier to do what I used to do. I've added in some plyometric movements for my legs, and they seem to be working well.

Overall I feel like I'm falling apart. My back is still an issue, my shoulder is holding me back. And i've been getting random strange head aches and I feel out of it all the time. I have to force myself workout, although once I do I feel great for a while, then its right back to this FOG shit in my head. I'm going to see the accupuncturist next week, hopefully that will clear some of this crap up.

Hardgain, a couple of things. If that shoulder thing is good, maybe you could post it in the injuries thread?

On your back- since you've recently ramped up the flexibility program you may be feeling the results of cetain movements in you lower back. Are you doing any type of psoas stretch? Do it. My lower back has been a BIG problem since my early 20's as far as working out and although I was skeptical I've been doing the reverse hypers and my back IS feeling great. Look at the WS4BB. I'm doing that and it has beaucoup lower back work. No problem. And I don't have a hyper machine. If your gym has one, why don't you check it out? And don't forget those hip stretches. Make all the difference in your lower back.

Headaches could be from something in your shoulder or the shoulder/trap complex. Strange, I know, but a distinct possibility. I know you've taken alcar a lot, but a possibility there too?

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

yeah i think the head aches are from my shoulder/trap problem. I've been streching those areas, but it hasnt subsided yet. Although it has gotten better.

psoas strecht? dont know what that is. I'll check out WS4bb and look into it. I

I havent used alcar in a few weeks. So I dont think its from that.

Well the psoas are basically the hip flexors. They tie into the lower back and if they are chronically tight (and they definitely could be since they don’t get a natural stretch and most BB’rs don’t stretch them) they can cause lower back problems. If you already have a lower back problem they could exacerbate it. Here is one stretch from the Stretching Article.

Psoas stretch

This stretch is sometimes called the “runner’s start” because the position you are in resembles that of a sprinter at the starting block. It mainly stretches the psoas muscle located just above the top of the thigh.
Crouch down on the floor with both hands and knees on the ground. Put one leg forward with your foot on the floor so that your front leg is bent at the knee at about a 90 degree angle. Now extend your rear leg in back of you so that it is almost completely straight (with just an ever so slight bend) and so that the weight of your rear leg is on the ball of your rear foot with the foot in a forced arch position. Now we are in the position to stretch (notice that your rear leg should be in pretty much the same position that it would assume if you were performing a front split).

Keeping your back straight and in line with your rear thigh, exhale and slowly try to bring your chest down to the floor (you shouldn’t need to bend much further than the line your front knee is on). You should feel the stretch primarily in the upper thigh of your rear leg but you should also feel some stretch in your front hamstring as well. Hold this position for at least 15 seconds. If you wish to also stretch your rear quadricep from this position, you can shift your weight back so that your rear leg makes a right angle with your knee pointing toward the floor (but don’t let it touch the floor). Now, without bending your rear leg any further, try to force your rear knee straight down to the floor.

Now repeat the same stretch(es) with your other leg in front.
For an isometric stretch, you can do this same stretch in front of a wall and instead of putting your hands on the floor, put them in front of you against the wall and then push against the wall with the ball of your foot (without decreasing the “stretch” in your psoas).

Well its monday kids, and wednesday will start my official vacation. And since i have friends staying at my place till then, i figure now is as good of a time as any for some RnR. For our purposes we will call it a week of strategic deconditioning.

When I return, I will be starting up the UD2, and goin all in kids. I cant wait for this vacation ...

I'm finally back from vacation, and let me say I got fat again. As of last weekend i was around 230lbs again. Its funny, i dieted for all that time, took 2 weeks off, and put all that wieght back on. To be honest I dont think its that big of a deal. I would venture most of it is water, and a few weeks clean eating will have me back down to 215-220lbs.

I started the UD2 yesterday, but I'm just feeling it out right now. I will start up another journal for that diet. As for this journal, I feel like i would have been better to end it with a few weeks eating maint. cals, but shit, stuffing my face on vacation was worth it.
