Thursday Nov 2

Squat 5* 225,245,275,300
Incline 5*190,210,235,260
Deadlift 5*250,280,310,345

ERIC would you happend to know of a good prescriped product that I could ask my doctor for, to help lubricate my joints (shoulder) ?

EricT 11-02-2006 12:26 PM

Wow. It hurts that bad? I think most of the prescription drugs are far rheumatoid arthritis and such. There this stuff I think is called hyarlonic acid and a couple drugs based on that which are injected directly into the joints. It may be only for knees and I doubt any of it would be appropriate for injuries. Sounds like you should talk to your doctor in any case.

And like I said before if that's a high incline press either drop it or lower it. Maybe some sups, I don't know. It seems to me like something you need to step back from and develop a plan. I've heard the massages help but are only temporary especially if you don't couple it with some sort of active rehab and then pre-hab.

Maybe try a closer grip on your bench. Help keep your shoulders tucked in? That helps me and I know 0311 recently mentioned that it helped him but he was speaking of his pec. It's all the same thing though.

This is sure looking great, btw. You've done a fantastic job on it.

TALO 11-02-2006 12:38 PM

I'm going to try and get in to see the doc early next week. This has been a problem before and I have seen him about it. But it's hasen't be a problem is alomost a year. I wouldn't mind getting an injectible, I haven't injected anything before, but I think it would target the problem faster. I havent lifted this heavy so I know that has something to do with it.
I have a massage appointment tomorrow, hopefully that helps to break up the scar tissue. I want to get this taken care of because I know I can lift more, as long as it holds out.

The incline is a 45 deg, I will try to get a 30 deg, by adding a plate under it. Going with a close grip should help, I will give it a shot.

Thanks again

EricT 11-02-2006 12:45 PM

Yeah that's basically what I do since my bench doesn't have enough adjustments just raise the front of the bench with plates. But I doubt I actually even use 30 percent. Basically for me incline is slight incline to change out from flat bench same as decline. A high incline would bug the shit out of my shoulders.

Maybe after this is you do an upper lower and have more variety, high reps, etc. that will help your shoulders recover.

EricT 11-02-2006 12:54 PM

Definitely look through those "Shoulder Savers" articles, btw, Talo. There is just an abundance of good info in them. And practical stuff easy to incorporate.

TALO 11-02-2006 01:03 PM

Even the flat bench bothers it, but not as much as the incline. And yes after this I think a upper/lower will be good for it. I think I've only got a few weeks left anyways.
I would like to bring up my weaker looking body parts (arms / legs)

I have been picking apart the should saver articles, some good stuff in there, lot's of reading...thanks

I've decided to stop this program. I wish I could continue, because I have made very good gains but I need to give my shoulder a break. I might be able to get 1 more week or so, but I would rather not injure myself.

START 5RM
SQUAT - 315lbs
BENCH - 255
BARBELL ROW - 200
DEADLIFT - 315
INCLINE PRESS - 225

FINAL 5RM

SQUAT - 345
BENCH - 285
ROW - 220
DEADLIFT -345
INCLINE PRESS -260

I loved this program and know that I have a new 5RM I might do this program again in the New Year.

A suggestion for your shoulder problems.

My roommate has shoulder problems and trained West Side for 2 years and had to stop benching because of his shoulder, last time I heard he could bench 405 twice.
Long story short, he got a kettlebell and started doing what's on these videos and he says that he no longer has shoulder problems.
Now you can do these with a dumbbell and works pretty good. Just remember start out light.
