I've never put this much thought into footwear since I've always been a chuck guy. Actually I was wearing chucks before they became "fashionable" again and now I'm pissed I have to pay more for them because they are trendy

My quandary is do I want a "lifting shoe" that will enable things to be a bit easier and my lifts to be a bit heavier in the sort term or do I want the best thing for my mobility, etc. in the long run. I'm a longterm sort of person so my instinct is to go with the latter. It's not that I believe that just what I do for squats will make a big difference, but when you factor in all sorts of other squat type exercises....

Plus I dont want to have to change shoes in order to do some romanians or pullthroughs...

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.

Yeah I want something that is versatile so I can do lunges, squat or deadlift. Im not to keen on deadlifting with a heal. I find it hard to balance when I do lunges in chuks. I havent put this much thought into shoes before either.
The knees are feeling preety good since I started these stretches.

The Nike Free come in 3.0, 5.0 and 7.0 being the extreme model.
I found a pair of 5.0 didnt like the fluro orange colour, but there the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I wouldnt have thought they would be a good lifting shoe though. I will wait and see what you think. If I find a pair in a better colour I might get some for casual wear.

I don't think they come in anything other UGLY

That's cool if you were able to find some to try on. None of the stores have them around here.

I definitely would not do deadlifts with a heel. I do them barefoot sometimes and that's even better than with chucks or the otomix.

What about them made you think they wouldn't be good for lifting. Are they mushy or unstable?

They remind me of the old Nike air hurrachi. They dont have an air sole, but the sole isnt hard.

Those look more like piriformis stretches, Marv. They might stretch the IT a little bit but I'd also try the standing stretch which you should feel better along the whole length of it and into the lateral knee area. Be careful of some of those stretches because of the lateral pressure they put on the knee. IME, the most effective ones have the stretched leg straight instead of bent and externally rotated.

Your right Eric I thought that was mostly hitting the piriformis. I was quite tight in that area.
