LOL, Woo Hoo is right. I weighed 180.5. 181 is the limit for my class. The next class is 198, and I really didn't want to lift against those guys.

Two out of three ain't bad. I was safe, I had fun, I didn't exactly kick ass. I did my 225 and 250 as planned. I took 255 for my last lift and I didn't get a good start and didn't make the lift. I took first in the 181 lb 50-54 age...but I won by default, I was the only lifter in that class LOL.

But what an event, there were 105 lifters, more than anticipated. so the whole day took a lot longer than they thought. Weigh ins went past time and it took them forever to post the flights. But once it got going, the time flew.

But I'm hooked. That first lift was very exciting. Adrenaline, anxious, nervous, pumped, everyone watching. The next one was even more anxious because the judge was making everyone pause a noticeable pause and I was worried about being the only one to miss the second lift in my flight, but I did it without too much trouble. The third lift just wasn't good from the time I sat on the bench. I think I finally realized what I was doing, the first two I was too nervous to realize I think.

There were a couple lifts over 700, 720 (with a shirt) was the highest. I was surprised at how many older guys were there too, but they were all over 200 lbs. They surprised me with the weight they were doing, 300, 350.

My friend is going to have a meet here in town in June, so I'm going to focus on getting ready for that.

Great job !

What are the future plans ? Do you want to get over 200lbs and join those other guys to have some competition ?

Will you move to Gear work or stay raw ?

Congrats Phil. That's awesome. I'm glad your first meet was a good experience. It is something completely different. I wish more people would go to just watch to gather an appreciation for the sport. It is very cool.

I think there was a dude that squatted 925 or 950 at my meet, but despite that he just wasn't impressive to me. Maybe because he was such an asshole to everybody in the back room. And the big fat roided out Joey Smith had a 725 bench press, but he cheated. He had his sleeves rolled down over his elbows & he had elbow wraps on underneath. Blind judges...

Who sanctioned the meet?
