Ok, several things:

1.) You need to provide more information. What the heck does "core work" mean?

2.) I think you are ready to start doing some dumbbell presses. We'll throw them in next week.

3.) Move Pull-ups to your second exercise. I would really like videos of your doing these weighted.

Ok, so next week:

- Military Press: 100 x 3 x 6
- Pull-ups: Take +45 lbs and try to do sets of 3. I want you to aim for 5+ sets. If you can do 10 sets that would be swell. Don't take videos of each and every set (lol) but I would like a video of the first and last set. Remember to rest for 3-4 minutes between sets. This WILL take quite a bit of time so be prepared for that.
- Flat Dumbbell Bench Press: do 2 sets of 8-12 reps. Take a video please.

Good job on the military press. It looked much better than last time.

Core work yesterday was side plank rows. I've been sticking to the ones you outlined, I'll be more specific on what I do from here on out

Some things came up today that I wasn't anticipating, it looks like I'm not going to make it into the gym until Monday. That's the fun part of college for ya...

Well, today is a bit of a different post...
To make a long story short, I'm taking a while off lifting seriously. Many factors go into this, such as the lack of food funds and the fact that I'm behind in schoolwork, but the biggest reason is just problems with motivation. Before I got hit by the truck, I really enjoyed lifting. I was excited to get back into it, but I have to be honest and say that died off within the first two weeks of being back. Since then, I've spent most of my time trying to ignore the fact that I would love to be anywhere but the gym while I'm there. I will never let myself quit something early just because I don't want to do it, and that is the ONLY thing that kept me in the gym to finish the rest of my workout yesterday. Perhaps part of it is that I deal with so much pain every day still that I just can't enjoy putting myself through more. Part might be something else. I'm really not sure. I'm not completely quitting lifting, but it will be a much less regimented event, at least for a while. Who knows. Life has changed pretty significantly since October of last year, and very little is the same as it was. I place a lot of value on strength and size, and I hope that a bit of time off will get me back in the mindset. I really do. But right now I just need to take it a day at a time and get to the gym when I can. Anuj, your help has been an incredible asset. Thank you very much for the time and effort you've spent helping me along. Hopefully I'll be back to learning from you again soon.I'm not leaving the forum, but I'm going to be a different sort of member, at least for the time being.

Well, this was yesterday's workout:
DL: 5x2x225. Forgot to concentrate on back straightness, but otherwise went decently.
FS: 6x3x95
Wood Chops

take it easy man....definitely good to take care of the pain issues first....it can wear on you mentally. maybe you'll make it back, maybe you won't....there are more important things in life....like school...and being happy :) best of luck to you :)

I definitely agree with Pitski. Do what makes you happy.

Cool....when you want to get back to training hard, let us know.

FlyUSMC 11-17-2009 06:36 PM

Absolutely will do. Like I said, I anticipate getting back after it in a while, but I think I just need some time off. Everyone here has been a great help in the past several years, thanks to all. I'll keep the journal updated every now and then.

Good luck to you then.
