Yeah, there is a harness that could be hooked up to it. I still think it will be too heavy. If I throw some 100lb plates on the sled, then I should be set. There are so many cool things down there...it's basically a new world for me to explore. And the carryover for a lot of the movements is great for power lifting.

I was worried about the shoes also...I just wore my lifting (track) shoes. They keep the floor swept/mopped pretty regularly I believe. I thought I was going to slip and break my ass, but they held up very well. I never slipped which surprised me.

I love this gym...I'm going to be spoiled rotten. It's going to suck if I ever graduate from school and move. I doubt I'll be able to find a place that's as awesome as this.

Sounds like it. I have everything my training group has to one degree or another. Implements are all pretty unique. One farmers walk handle is not like another one (assuming not the exact same build). So that makes things interesting. I think I've walked with 5-6 different grips now and each one has its own challenge. That is just one of those fun things about strongman training. Not to mention I feel MUCH stronger and more capable these days, just in a (hate the word) functional sense.

The tracks I tried pulling yesterday, several adjustable implements for farmers walk, in the bottom left next to the wooden post is the little sled that I pulled today with 135lbs, several tires, a keg, etc...

Two sets of atlas stones. Implements for the farmers walk.

The largest tire on the right weighs 1200lbs. That's the sled I was pushing in the foreground.

I didn't get a picture of the anchor chain. There were also wheels from a railroad boxcar...? And a few other random things.

That gym is damn sexy! Those tires are amazing! Biggest tire I've flipped was an 800lber for 5 flips I think. I doubt I could flip a 1200lb tire, but I would stay out of the way of anyone that could!

Oh, and that "predator" looks a lot like a yoke with the cross bar dropped low. Good idea! Looks a lot like our gym, but our tires are outdoors and we have some other goodies out there as well. Logs to flip (like Fingal fingers) and a throw for height setup.

That's pretty awesome. I really enjoy training at other gyms once in a while. New environment, new people, new knowledge. The gym owner (6'2", 310) and one other person that trains there can flip the 1200lb tire. I want to start flipping the little 300 pounder. It will be a good way for me to do my 'cardio'. It's hard for me to believe SSC doesn't have any logs for flipping or a gauge for height for the keg. I think he might have some stuff hidden or outside. I haven't looked around much yet. I'll ask when I go in for leg day tomorrow.

Flipping logs is pretty cool, it is different from a tire because once you clean it you still have to press it and walk it over. Adds a new element to the movement. Oh, and I'm guessing you would be fine with a 400-500lb tire. I don't know anyone that can't flip those. I have two 500lb tires at my house (a single 500, and two 250's bolted together) and they are really pretty easy. I can run a 100' course flipping in under a minute at this point. The other weekend I flipped one for 50 flips. Took me a while, but that wasn't a ton of rest between flips.

Once you have the technique down it really doesn't take much energy to flip a 500lb tire. We don't have a lot of big earth mover tires around here, since we are a farming community, but tractor tires are all over the place. The clean on a tire is much higher, but on those tires you guys have you literally just walk them up.

I wish I had a place like that to go to. I'm starting to get somethings together and putting them out at the father inlaws farm.

Thanks for the pictures.

I meant to take a few pictures of the actual gym (upstairs)...I will tomorrow if I go in. I love going downstairs also. There is no fucking around when I go down there. It smells like basement, it's dark, there are no distractions, it's quiet....pretty awesome environment.

Speed squats from box - 5X3 225
Superset
Leg press - 3X5 290
Leg curls - 3X5 120

Sled drag - 12X40ft 200lbs

I'll explain the box squats. I was faster than normal. But not fast enough to be a "speed squat". Basically, when I go super heavy, I lose focus of how fast I'm going. It's psychologically easier to lift a light weight faster than a heavy weight. So I went with a weight that gave me the psychological advantage of being light, but that still let me do some somewhat heavier work. I also read something somewhere (maybe this forum?) written by someone saying that the act of trying to generate speed could be as effective as actually moving with speed. So in addition to actually doing speed squats, I'll have heavy speed squats as an option on DE days.

Leg press was superset with leg curls. I left the balls of my feet hanging off the platform and had the same stance I use when deadlifting for the leg press. Leg curls were good. I didn't run when I dragged the sled today. I took long deep steps, so it was somewhat reminiscent of a lunge. Good workout. No more squatting...shoulder kept subluxing & causing problems when I tried to drive up with a lot of force off of the box. Going to the infirmary tomorrow on campus if it's open.
