The first time I did push press in about a year, I hurt my shoulder...about four weeks ago. I know what you're saying though. My shoulders had never felt so good before they got hurt. (minus the aggravation from flat bench press). I am really torn about it...I think if I go heavy enough, then I will hurt my shoulder again (even after I "recover"), but I don't want to completely forgo OH pressing. It really is my favorite movement...even more so than DL. I'll be able to make a more accurate assessment after I get an MRI done anyway.

I think push pressing helps me becuse it gets the bar up far enough that when my shoulders kick in and press I'm not in a weird position, like i feel I am in a strict military press. However, I can see them being problematic if you have a bad shoulder since they impose a lot of different forces (lots of dynamic and jarring forces) on the shoulder girdle. If your shoulder is fine, then perhaps none of that matters and you grow stronger.

With my lower back, an injury I got from moving into my house in Connecticut, I never feel right doing DL's. So much so that I've considered just how much they REALLY help me. I get pulling practice from farmers walks or rack pulls, but how much does a DL from the floor really matter to me? I like to do them, but the more I think on it maybe the answer is that they aren't that necessary at all as I can cover my gaps through other exercises. Maybe your shoulder will be the same way?

Ross, I remember you're looking for wrist wraps. I just bought a medium pair from APT dirt cheap.

I'm not about to pay $15-25 for a pair, and these are very close to all of them anyways.

Ah, you're breaking my balls DH. Mine are supposed to be coming this evening. Thanks for the heads up. I wish I had bought a 16" pair instead of 12", so I might get a 24" also.

If they don't work for me, then I'll just give them to you. I tried some 16" wraps last week and they were incredible. I think they're the perfect size for typical use.
