That's a great lift.

As for the olympics - I'm watching what I can , but come on Canada stinks!! Looks like it's between China and the USA . Some world records have been broken in swimming that I saw.

Next week will be good to watch also , with all the track.

Olympic lifting is insanely fun. I've been hoping to catch some of it on TV, but it is not nearly held in such high regards as swim/dive/gymnastics. Though I saw a few minutes of water polo and field hockey... and if THEY get air time, dammit, weights better!

anybody else see the dumbass game played on like....a bigger basketball court...but with a soccer net...and a mini basketball...they sort of dribble the ball...and throw it towards the goal...looked so stupid.

Pity, that would be handball, and my understanding is that around the rest of the world, it is kinda popular... but keep in mind that any game that has low entrance requirements (what, tiny ball and some kind of goal) is going to be popular in less developed nations. Why do you think soccer is so big? Any town with enough space and a ball (head of an infidel) can have a team and host a game.

Games like field hockey I don't get. Can't they just learn to skate and wait until the winter? :( Or water polo... um, I'm sure that seems macho in some circles, but it looks kinda ghey to me. I appreciate how hard it must be... but I imagine slogging waist deep through cow manure while carrying a midget wearing spurs would be hard too. Difficulty alone is not impressive.

Speaking of difficult, anyone see the black swimmer? Normally I hate the causes that Olympic athletes take up, but his "swimming for inner city youth" program is pretty cool. Being in the Navy I was shocked how many black guys couldn't swim. Even the ones that "could" looked like a three legged dog trying not to drown. I understand that you may not have much cause to save your life by swimming if you live in inner city (insert your own city here), but considering that it is a LIFESAVING measure, you would think a little more emphasis would be placed on it. I may not be Michael Phelps but I can keep myself above water long enough to not die. Normally the causes I see are things like "Third world skeet shooting" really? Because the little kid with an AK-47 needs to be able to hit a little pink disc? Retarded. Those people need food and a stable government, not a sport. Look it up in Maslowe's heirarchy of needs, "sport" doesn't even factor until food, shelter and safety are met. But learning to swim... safety, bam, hit it right on the head!
