Absolutely MUST change grips, every 3 sets.
RAW Benchers: 3 Close, 3 Regular, 3 Wide grip.
- Close grip I use my pointer finger on smooth part of bar (2" away from rings)
- Regular grip is pinkey's on the rings
- Wide grip is ring finger on the rings.
SHIRTED benchers: 3 different grips all within the rings according to a Dave Tate article.
Box squats shouldn't be on the bench IMO. In most cases, it's too high. You would probably be better suited with a few aerobic steps OR the risers that usually go underneath the steppers. I use 4 risers + 45 pound plate for low box squats (3-4" below parallel), and 6 risers + 45 pound plate for DE box squats (slightly below parallel). By risers, I mean the hard plastic square shaped pieces that normally fit underneath the aerobic steps to keep them stable. Good pic of the risers
