I don't do them anymore in my current routine but I always did just clean and presses together.

As you mentioned its much harder on your cardiovascular system if you do the movements together. I personally would stick with doing them together for that reason. I never really tried seeing what I could clean without adding a press to it so I don't know if there is a major weight difference when you split them up.

I am the type of person who likes to kill two birds with one stone I guess.
